Vocal Music

Opera

Although Mendelssohn wrote several singspiels (German light opera often
romantic or comic in nature, sometimes with magic and fantastical creatures), he
never wrote a full opera.  His singspiels were all written by age 20 and are rarely
        performed today.

Oratorio

Elijah for choir and orchestra, Op. 70 (1846) (MWV A 25)

'More Sacred Music

Psalm 42, Op. 42  "Wie der Hirsch schreit" ("As pants the Hart")  (1837, rev. 1838)
